A woman was found dead early this Sunday morning in an apartment ravaged by fire in the Riquier district, east of Nice.
The accommodation, located on the second floor of a building with four at 22 rue Thaon de Revel, was the prey of a “widespread fire” when the firefighters arrived, around 5 a.m., specifies the Departmental Service of fire and rescue services (Sdis) in the Alpes-Maritimes.
More than 25 firefighters were mobilized and two lances were established, one of which was on an aerial ladder.
The fire was brought under control without spreading to adjoining apartments.
The victim's body was discovered during reconnaissance.
The rest of the occupants of the building were evacuated, nearly twenty people.
