The marriage grants that were disbursed during the year 2021 are the largest since the launch of the initiative

Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, revealed that 190,890,000 dirhams were spent on marriage grants, benefiting 2,727 young citizens who are about to marry during the past year 2021, an increase of more than 11% over the year 2020, which witnessed the disbursement of 171,360,000 dirhams to 2,448 people.

Buhumaid said that this annual recurring increase in the number of couples getting married is an indication of the increase in the percentage of citizens marrying female citizens, given that one of the conditions of the grant is that the spouses be citizens.

Her Excellency referred to the role of the marriage grant in strengthening family cohesion and raising awareness among young people and their awareness of the value of building and forming a stable Emirati family.

Hessa Buhumaid confirmed that the grants offered to young people during the year 2021 are the largest ever since the launch of the initiative in 1992, noting that the ministry is currently working on providing more facilities for those who are about to marry, by re-amending the organizational decisions and conditions for this, in order to facilitate the procedures for disbursing the grant, And to motivate young people to achieve more demand for marriage.

Buhumaid said that the continuous directives of the state leadership to provide support to the Emirati family are reflected in the ministry's work approach by encouraging young people to marry and increasing their numbers annually, while ensuring the best means of living for all family members.

The minister indicated the ministry's commitment to its strategic vision in accordance with the principle of achieving a better quality of life for all members of society, as the marriage grant is one of the ministry's initiatives aimed at empowering young people and helping them build a family based on firm foundations that provide happiness and social welfare for the people of the UAE.

The value of the marriage grant is 70,000 dirhams, paid in one payment to the beneficiaries according to a number of conditions, in the context of supporting the aspirations of young people and supporting them to build new financially and morally stable families, in order to achieve the goal of helping young men and girls to start their married and family life in stability and confidence, and to provide financial support to meet the requirements of marriage and alleviate them financially.
