Missing tourist plane found at the bottom of a lake in Iceland

Police in Iceland have found a small plane at the bottom of a lake, two days after it went missing, with three tourists and a pilot on board, police said on Saturday.

The tourists on board the Cessna 172N, who were on a tour on Thursday, were from Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States, the Icelandic newspaper Morgonbladid reported.

The Icelandic coast guard said in a statement that the plane crashed in Lake Thingvalavaten, about 40 kilometers from the capital, Reykjavik, and was located with the help of a submarine.

So far, the plane has not been withdrawn or the bodies have been recovered.
