The death toll in the United States exceeded 900,000 deaths from the Corona virus, while several countries in Asia recorded record infections in light of the outbreak of the mutated Omicron.

On Friday, President Joe Biden said, commenting on the achievement of this outcome, that the United States crossed another tragic threshold.

The number of deaths due to Corona so far is equivalent to the population of South Dakota.

The death toll was 800,000 45 days ago, and 400,000 deaths when Biden took office in January 2020.

At the same time, the proportion of HIV infections in the country increased by 0.4% to more than 76 million, according to data published by Johns Hopkins University and the American Bloomberg Agency, and the high infections have put pressure on hospitals and prompted states to take emergency measures.

Reuters said that the recent increase in the number of deaths and injuries in the United States is attributed, among other reasons, to the outbreak of the Omicron mutant, which was first detected in South Africa last November.

But the agency indicated that deaths and injuries in the United States are declining, and indicated that the death rate is now in the range of 2,500 deaths per day, after it was in the range of 3,300 deaths when the delta virus was dominant last year, at the rate of infections now reaching 354,000, which is half of what it was Less than two weeks ago.

Americans are still dying of corona in large numbers because only 64% of them have completed vaccination despite the availability of highly effective vaccines against the virus on a large scale.
