The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called speculation about Russia's "invasion" of Ukraine "a crime against the planet" and democracy.

She noticed that even in the reports from the opening of the Beijing Olympics, the cameras focused either on Russian President Vladimir Putin or on the uniform of Ukraine, and “all this is mixed up in one story and it is said that Russia will attack right now.”

“This is the formation.

This is no longer propaganda ... This is a terrible crime against our planet, which is being committed under the auspices of the Western mainstream, ”RIA Novosti quotes Zakharova.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that now democracy is undergoing a colossal test, its foundations in the form of freedom of the media, reliable facts and critical thinking are being undermined, and people are being offered a "global mythologized terrible lie."

Zakharova admitted that media speculation could be a "smoke screen" for possible provocations from the West.

In addition, Maria Zakharova commented on Bloomberg’s mistake with the publication of news about the alleged start of Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine, as well as Bild’s material about the Russian side’s alleged plan to “annex” Ukraine.

She recalled that earlier Bloomberg published a fake about "Russian-Chinese agreements on the invasion of Ukraine."

Zakharova stressed that what is happening is an information and political marathon of "NATO desires."

“Many times we have seen Westerners spoil the Olympic Games.

But the current approach to the projectile was invented by real perverts who are ready for anything, ”Zakharova noted in her Telegram channel.

Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Belik, in a conversation with RT, noted that exaggerating the topic of Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a trend that the United States has set and is now actively trying to spread.

“What the Western media is doing now is a classic example of information warfare.

When there are no arguments, no reliable facts, nothing that would fall under the ideas of the United States, then the easiest way is to artificially inflate the situation, resort to insinuations and provocations, which they do.

The lie is so mediocre that the true situation is clear to everyone who looks at things sensibly, ”the deputy emphasized.

Recall that in recent weeks in Western countries there have been statements about an allegedly possible military “invasion” of Russia into Ukraine.

Moscow has repeatedly stressed the absurdity of such accusations.

The topic of the alleged aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine is also actively promoted by the Western media.

So Bloomberg announced the Russian “invasion” of Ukraine, releasing the erroneous headline “Russia Invades Ukraine” (“Russia is invading Ukraine.” -

RT

).

The agency later issued an apology and said it was making headlines for many scenarios and this one was unintentionally released.

In addition, the German publication Bild published a report by unspecified secret services about Russia's alleged plan to "annex" Ukraine and stated that the "invasion" would take place either in February or March.

State Duma deputy Oleg Morozov said that such publications by Western media are “part of a big propaganda war” that is being waged with Russia.

Speaking about the publication of Bild, Morozov explained that this stuffing is designed to present Russia as a potential "aggressor" and to prove the alleged inevitability of "war".

“And if it doesn’t happen, present it as the result of the struggle of the so-called world progressive community, which stopped Russia’s “inevitable and imminent aggression” against unfortunate Ukraine,” the deputy said in an interview with RT.

In turn, political scientist Ruslan Balbek believes that what happened is a prepared action.

“I do not believe that editors of publications do not examine material relating to strategic issues.

All the scraping, they say, were mistaken, they didn’t notice - a demonstration of disregard for the public.

And since they are not afraid, it means that they received the go-ahead for such stuffing, ”the expert said.

At the same time, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, following a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, said that Russia "should stop destabilizing activities against Ukraine", and Moscow would have to "pay a huge price" for the "invasion".

Earlier, Russia's Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov, in an interview with the Greek TV channel EPT1, said that Russia is not afraid of anyone and will mirror European sanctions if they are introduced.

“We take into account everything that happens, because there are a lot of words, no one has presented anything specific.

However, this should be taken into account by the inhabitants of Europe.

That is, if there are sanctions, Russia will be forced to impose anti-sanctions.

And who will be hurt the most?

These will be European consumers,” he said.

At the end of January, the Financial Times, citing sources, reported that the UK and the EU were preparing to impose sanctions on new Russian gas projects if Moscow “attacked” Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the West is hysterically developing the theme of the alleged threat to Ukraine from the Russian Federation, and the imposition of US sanctions against Russia would be tantamount to breaking off relations.
