Demonstrations against the Corona measures took place in many German cities on Saturday, but in many places people also opposed the demonstrators.

According to the police, the protests and counter-demonstrations initially remained mostly peaceful.

Around 4,000 people came together in Freiburg, as a police spokesman said.

A counter-demo tried to block the protest march.

The police then guided the demonstrators past the blockade.

In Karlsruhe, the police reported about 2,000 demonstrators, in Stuttgart, on the other hand, several hundred people took to the streets in the city center, as a police spokesman said.

Broad counter-protest in Düsseldorf

Again, numerous people protested against the Corona measures in Düsseldorf.

Here, however, many followed the joint call by the CDU, Greens, SPD, FDP and Left to “show the red card to the entourage of opponents of vaccination, conspiracy theorists and right-wing extremists who are marching through our city”, such as the state chair of the Greens, Mona Neubaur , or the FDP member of the Bundestag Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann.

4000 participants had been registered for the rally of the Corona measures opponents, but the police expected a higher number of participants.

In Berlin, a few hundred were counted at a registered meeting against corona measures in the afternoon.

Two other protest actions were registered in the capital, which were directed against the Corona rules and compulsory vaccination.

Around 30 cars drove in a parade on Rosenthaler Platz in Berlin-Mitte to protest against the Corona measures, as can be seen on a video.

There were counter-demonstrations here too.

In Brandenburg an der Havel, the police broke up an unregistered meeting.

People also protested against the corona measures in several cities in Lower Saxony.

According to the police, there were around 1,100 in Osnabrück on Saturday afternoon. Several were excluded from the demonstration because they were not wearing a mask.

In Lüneburg, the police counted around 300 demonstrators - around 120 people came to a counter-demonstration.

Hundreds also demonstrated in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's state capital, Schwerin, against the measures.
