After performing Friday prayers, a large number of fans and family of the great Egyptian artist and director, Jalal Al-Sharqawi, buried the body of the deceased from the Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque in the Mohandessin neighborhood, amid a state of sadness and shock that overwhelmed everyone.

Artist Yasser Galal, artist Ahmed Shaker and theater director Sameh Bassiouni participated in the funeral.

The artist Ahmed Shaker told the Middle East News Agency, "Jalal Al-Sharqawi was the owner of a special and distinguished school in Arab theater, and he is a pioneer of this art. He presented many distinguished works that will remain firmly in the minds of the Arab public for life."

Director Khaled Jalal, Head of the Cultural Production Affairs Sector, mourned the great director Jalal Al-Sharqawi - in a statement - saying, "Today we bid farewell to a great professor, teacher and director who studied at his hands many art stars. They are important stations in the history of Egyptian art, may God have mercy on the creative artist Jalal Al-Sharqawi, and inspire his family and fans patience and solace."

A number of artists also mourned the able artist Jalal Al-Sharqawi, where the artist Nabil Al-Halafawi wrote, “Two of the great Egyptian theater artists have left us, the artist Aida Abdel Aziz, who was kind to God after a period of suffering with illness, and Professor Jalal Al-Sharqawi, the man of the theater, a teacher, actor, director, producer and administrator, May God bless them with his mercy and forgiveness, and sincere condolences to their families, lovers and the artistic scene.

The artist Hani Ramzy wrote through his official account on Twitter, "Two giants of art and theater have left our world: my teacher, who was taught by the great artist and director Jalal Al-Sharqawi, and the able artist Aida Abdel Aziz, may God have mercy on them, and my condolences to their families and all their lovers."

The artist Salah Abdullah also mourned him with poignant words through his Twitter account, "As if sadness told me, it is reasonable to sleep hilarious and rise hilarious, and I will leave you (I leave you)", and described him as the owner of a heart full of faith, kindness, goodness and love, and asked his followers to pray for the "Professor".

The great director, Jalal Al-Sharqawi, passed away this morning, Friday, at the age of 88, after the repercussions of being infected with the Corona virus.

During his artistic career, Al-Sharqawi participated in many films with leading artists and directors. The leader, Adel Imam, participated in the films "Mothers in Exile" and "Leave Your Mind from Your Mind".

In the mid-sixties of the last century, Al-Sharqawi presented his first directorial experience in the movie "The Widow and 3 Girls" in 1965, and the film was inspired by a play by writer Henry Beck, and co-starred with Amina Rizk, Salah Mansour, Nawal Aboul Fotouh and Saad Ardash.

Al-Sharqawi held many positions, including head of the acting and directing department, dean of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1975 and 1979, and a full-time professor at the institute since 2006.

He received the State Appreciation Award in Arts in 1994, and directed many successful plays, including "Houda Karama", "Al-Janzeer", "Atiya Al-Tahyahi", "On the Raseef", "Public Sector Dancer", "Al-Baghbghan", "The Joker", and "The School of Hooligans", in addition to participating in acting in many successful artworks.
