Sudanese Professionals Association refuses to meet with UN envoy

The Sudanese Professionals Association announced in a statement today, Friday, its refusal to meet with United Nations Special Envoy Volker Perthes, accusing the UN mission in the country of failing to condemn the military coup.

The assembly said in a statement, "The UNITAMS mission did not abide by its mission according to the mandate given to it by the UN Security Council to support and monitor the democratic transition... Rather, the mission and its head sought to support (the coup) and recognize the authority of the coup and its leader, Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan."
