Putin expressed confidence that the trade turnover between Russia and China will reach $200 billion

“Dear Mr. Chairman, dear friend, first of all I would like to thank you for the invitation to the opening of the Olympic Games.

We know firsthand that this is a huge job.

I am sure that our Chinese friends did it brilliantly,” Putin said during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart.

Bilateral relations between Russia and China are developing progressively, in the spirit of friendship and strategic partnership, he stressed.

“You have already noted that $140 billion is a confident move towards our common goal of $200 billion in turnover.

I am sure that we will certainly reach this bar,” the Russian President said.

Earlier, a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping began in China.

As Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov noted, the goal of the two countries is to reach the level of $200 billion in trade turnover around 2024.
