He noted that in three weeks the police seized a large number of weapons, "especially in Alma-Ata, Alma-Ata and Zhambyl regions."

“The total number of seized weapons at the moment amounted to 747 units, as well as over 18 thousand ammunition,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Earlier it was reported that 2,750 criminal cases were initiated in Kazakhstan on the fact of the January protests. 

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that some of the militants had moved to neighboring republics after the protests in Alma-Ata.
