US President Joe Biden on Friday inspected the damage caused by the collapse of a bridge in the city of Pittsburgh, which led to a change in the itinerary of a trip that was scheduled before the accident and dedicated to infrastructure projects put in place by the president.
"It's unbelievable," Biden said in front of the collapsed, snow-covered bridge.
Snow surrounded a bus and a number of vehicles after the bridge collapse, which did not result in any deaths.
And emergency services in Pittsburgh, the second largest city after Philadelphia in the state of Pennsylvania (east), said that three people were taken to hospital, but their lives are not in danger.
"It's a miracle," said one member of the rescue team, in an opinion that Biden agreed with, stressing that "there are more bridges in Pittsburgh than any other city in the world."
"We're going to fix all of these bridges," added Biden, who for months pushed for massive infrastructure spending plans.
A massive change will happen.
There are 43,000 of them (the bridges) and we will send the money.”
"We're going to fix them all," President Biden said about bridges in Pittsburgh and across the country while surveying the damage of Friday's bridge.
"This is going to be a gigantic change."
