“The presidents of the two countries agreed to continue efforts for de-escalation and dialogue, in particular, within the framework of the negotiations in the Normandy format,” the French presidential administration said in a statement.

Macron also reaffirmed France's full solidarity with Ukraine and declared his determination to defend the country's sovereignty.

Earlier, Zelensky said that he had a telephone conversation with Macron and discussed with him the resumption of the Normandy format.

Prior to this, Russian and German Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Annalena Burbock expressed support for the work of the Normandy format on the situation in Ukraine.
