“As for the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine, I would like to note that this is not the first time that Kiev has done this, including with the aim of maintaining a transit route through its territory for Russian gas by all means.

The politicization of the Ukrainian issue equally contradicts the economic interests of our country and the EU and is harmful to business and ordinary citizens,” Chizhov said.

He noted that stable supplies of Russian gas to the EU are beneficial to both parties.

“For Russia, this is, of course, export earnings, and in the case of the European Union, one should take into account the goals that it sets for itself on the energy and climate track,” Chizhov explained.

According to him, the EU authorities intend to use natural gas as a transitional energy carrier until 2050.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Germany called for the exclusion of restrictions in the energy sector from a new package of sanctions against Russia.

It is noted that the country is concerned about possible threats to energy supplies to Europe.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade Vladimir Gutenev, in an interview with RT, explained Germany's position on sanctions against Russia in the energy sector.
