- Turkish actor and actor Ayberk Pekcan, who played one of the most famous starring roles in the famous historical series "Ertugrul Resurrection", died on Monday after a struggle with lung cancer.

The late Arab public knew Bekjan in the role of the doctor and healer "Artuk Bey", who was the wise man of the Kayi tribe, and was known for his medical and therapeutic abilities, as well as his constant support for his "master" Ertugrul bin Suleiman in the difficult situations the tribe went through.

"Artuk Bey" lost consideration in the 92nd episode of the series Ertugrul's Resurrection under torture, which was practiced against him by Baybulat, the leader of the "sons of Omur" tribe, who disguised himself as the "Basti" who works for the benefit of the Mongols in close alliance with the Seljuk minister Baha al-Din.

Bekjan achieved great fame in the Arab and Islamic world. He received the heroes' reception in Pakistan, which he visited with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in 2020, with a large delegation, including actors in the series Ertugrul Resurrection, especially Nureddin Sonmez, who represented the famous Bamsi character in the series.

The news of the death of the artist Pekcan at the age of 51 shook the Turkish artistic and cultural circles, and Turkish presidential spokesman Fahrettin Altun mourned him, as well as the Ministry of Culture and a large number of local and foreign media operating in the country.

Who is Iberek Bekjan?

Bekjan is a famous Turkish actor who worked as a government employee in the education sector, as well as a laborer, and was a political activist.

He was born on May 22, 1970 in the Turkish city of Mersin and died there at the age of 51. He was single and never married before.

At an early stage of his life, Bekcan moved to the Turkish state of Adana, where he studied the basic and intermediate stages in its schools, then returned to Mersin to complete his secondary studies in his hometown, before joining Mersin University, from which he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in theatrical field.

Bekjan has been known for his political activity since he belonged to the Social Democratic People's Party (SHP), a center-left party that was founded in 1985 and dissolved in 1995. The late obtained party membership in 1991 and won his local elections for Mersin state.

In the field of films, he played the role of writer Ali Shawky in "The Fall of Abdel Hamid", then participated in the role of the village chief in the movie "Where is the devil in this?"

Bekcan received a number of artistic awards, most notably the SIYAD Award for Best Actor in the movie "Poetry" in 2011, then the Best Supporting Actor Award from the Ankara International Film Festival in 2012 for the movie "Love and Revolution", and in 2014 he won again The Turkish Film Critics Association (SIYAD) Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie "Winter Hibernation", then in 2015 he won the Jury Prize for Performance and Excellence in the Twenties of Performance and Excellence from the "Sadri Alişık Award for Cinema and Theater" for the same film, before receiving an award in 2016 Actor of the Year from "Golden Palm" for his role in the series "Ertugrul Resurrection".

Bekjan was diagnosed with lung cancer in October of last year 2021, after he went to see a doctor after back pain.
