As the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger is approaching in the Chinese lunar calendar, Pan Yue, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China, delivered a New Year congratulatory message in Beijing, extending holiday greetings and best wishes to the vast number of overseas Chinese and the relatives of returned overseas Chinese.

  Dear overseas Chinese, friends,

As the Chinese New Year is approaching, on behalf of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China, I would like to extend festive greetings and best wishes to the vast number of overseas Chinese and the families of returned overseas Chinese.

In 2021, the Communist Party of China has completed the first centenary goal and embarked on the road to the second centenary goal.

Looking back a hundred years, the history of the Communist Party of China and the history of New China are closely related to the history of modern overseas Chinese.

In the wake of the storm, many overseas Chinese actively promoted the in-depth development of ideological and cultural movements including Marxism.

During the war of resistance against the nation, many overseas Chinese destroyed their homes and sacrificed for the country.

In the booming era of New China's construction, many overseas Chinese students have overcome all odds and dangers to return to China to repay and make great efforts to build a great power.

In the thriving era of reform and opening up, many overseas Chinese took the lead in returning to China to invest and start businesses, which opened the prelude to China's economic take-off.

Entering the new era, overseas Chinese are also playing an important role as participants of the "Belt and Road", promoters of mutual learning between civilizations, and companions of national rejuvenation.

As President Xi Jinping said, a vivid situation in which all Chinese sons and daughters at home and abroad can think and act together will surely bring together the majestic power to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

At present, the epidemic has not stopped, the international situation is still complicated, unilateralism is intensifying, and racism is rampant.

We empathize with the various pressures the overseas Chinese have encountered in life, career and spirituality.

The more we face the great changes unseen in a century, the more we must draw the wisdom of changing and adapting from the Chinese civilization, which has never been interrupted after the vicissitudes of life.

Chinese civilization is a tenacious civilization. Every time it encounters difficulties, it will rise up to it, and every time it encounters setbacks, it will be reborn from the ashes.

Overseas Chinese have inherited this cultural spirit, self-reliance and self-reliance, self-esteem and self-love.

From history to today, all who face racism and discrimination will fight bravely to defend their rights, survive and develop, and will continue to contribute to multiculturalism and global well-being.

The Chinese civilization is a peaceful civilization. The modernization of the Chinese nation relies on self-reliance rather than colonization and plunder; China's friendship has been won by win-win cooperation rather than self-reliance.

Overseas Chinese have inherited this cultural tradition, never troubled the country they live in, and achieved their own success through diligence, humility and dedication, and have also won the recognition of the people living in the country.

Chinese civilization is an inclusive civilization. It opposes the binary opposition of either one or the other, and pursues inclusiveness and difference.

China has never lacked multiple ethnic groups and religions, multiple economic sectors, and multiple social classes, but in the end, it is always possible to achieve a consensus on the basis of diversity.

Overseas Chinese have inherited this cultural trait, and in the face of divisions and conflicts in some parts of the world, they maintain rationality and peace, and promote the diversity and tolerance of the society in which they live.

Chinese civilization is an open civilization. It can keep learning from other civilizations while maintaining its own civilization. It can share its achievements with the world while realizing its own development.

Overseas Chinese have inherited this cultural character, and while maintaining their own cultural traditions, they actively integrate into the culture of the country they live in, and promote the openness and integration of different civilizations.

From climate change to wealth divide, from racism to identity politics, from the information divide to technological hegemony, the world faces common challenges.

Human society needs to transcend ideological barriers and find a way to deal with it through rational dialogue and mutual learning between civilizations.

The vast number of overseas Chinese should work with the people living in the country to respond to estrangement and discrimination by watching and helping each other, and eliminate misunderstanding and prejudice through civilized exchanges.

The more someone wants to "decouple" and "build a wall", the more we need to build a bridge between peoples of all countries.

Only when the Chinese civilization is correctly understood can the overseas Chinese be correctly understood; only when multiple civilizations coexist harmoniously, can all people be stable and prosperous.

At present, the epidemic situation is still severe. The overseas Chinese are working hard, helping each other selflessly, or persevering courageously, which makes us full of respect.

President Xi has always been concerned about the safety and well-being of the overseas Chinese.

In the past year, all departments and places have been working hard to bring warmth to you.

"Spring Miao Action" has vaccinated millions of overseas Chinese and overseas students in 180 countries; the "New Year Warm Heart Pack" for epidemic prevention and anti-epidemic has continued to serve overseas Chinese in more than 30 countries; for overseas Chinese who have encountered difficulties due to the turbulent situation, We are increasing our support; the continuously improved telemedicine platform will provide more online consultation services for overseas Chinese; the continuously improved online government affairs platform will provide overseas Chinese with cross-border services through "global communication" and "one-stop service". "One Internet Access"; online Chinese education and cultural experience platforms are also booming, which will bring our emotions closer to the "cloud".

Overseas Chinese and friends, in a few days it will be the Spring Festival and the Beijing Winter Olympics will soon open, which will bring more unity, confidence and strength to the world.

Let us welcome the Year of the Tiger together with our longing for each other and our expectations for a better future.

Once again, I wish you all a prosperous New Year of the Tiger, a happy family, happiness and health, and all the best.

Thanks!
