Speeds are therefore limited to 110 km/h on portions of motorways normally limited to 130 km/h, to 90 km/h on lanes normally limited to 110 km/h and to 70 km/h on those limited to 90 km/h. km/h or 80 km/h, says a press release.

This limitation is effective immediately and until the end of the pollution episode.

Cold temperatures favor the rejection of particles

On Monday, the prefecture had launched an information and recommendation procedure due to an increase in levels of fine particles in suspension (PM10), an episode expected to last several days.

“Levels of PM10 increased significantly on the night of January 24, due to cold temperatures favoring the release of particles linked to the heating of housing, in particular wood heating, the main source of particles, indicates this Tuesday the control body. of Atmo air quality.

The other sources of particles also contribute to these PM10 levels (road traffic, industries, etc.).
