A 44-year-old man drowned in the early hours of Monday, January 24, after falling, with a stolen motorcycle, down a ravine into the
Laguna del Campillo de Rivas Vaciamadrid
during a police chase. Also traveling on the motorcycle was a 34-year-old woman who suffered chest trauma and orthopedic trauma in the accident. After being rescued by firefighters and the Police, she was transferred in serious condition by the Summa to the 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the Community of Madrid 112 Emergencies. had 15 police records for different crimes. .
The events began around 01:30 am in La Cañada Real. During a service in the area
, some National Police agents saw a suspicious motorcycle
in which two people were traveling. When checking the license plate of the motorcycle, they discovered that it was listed as stolen. It was then that they tried to make the driver stop, but he
escaped in the direction of Rivas Vaciamadrid
through several rural roads. The agents began the pursuit with the help of members of the Civil Guard and the Local Police.
Upon reaching the Piul road, the motorcycle
left the path and fell down a ravine
until it entered the water in the Laguna del Campillo, next to the Jarama River, according to police sources.
The agents and firefighters pulled the woman out alive and later located the lifeless body of the driver, who as a result of the injuries sustained could not get out of the water and drowned.
A court in Arganda del Rey is investigating the case.
An autopsy is scheduled to be carried out today on the body that was transferred to the Valdebebas Institute of Legal Medicine (Madrid).
