People's Strength candidate Yoon Seok-yeol defined the current government's policy toward North Korea as a 'policy of submission'.

He downplayed North Korea's blatant provocations by upgrading its nuclear capabilities and test-firing hypersonic missiles, calling the 'Korean Peninsula peace process a complete failure'.

Instead, candidate Yoon focused on peace through powerful force.

Specifically, they pledged to carry out the reduced ROK-U.S. joint maneuver drill as normal and to normalize the THAAD base in Seongju.

In addition, he added flesh to the theory of a preemptive strike against North Korea, saying that it would secure surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities for North Korea's nuclear weapons and missiles and develop new interceptor weapons such as hypersonic missiles and laser weapons.

He further emphasized, "We can deter reckless attacks only if we show the ability and the will to strike even the North Korean leadership."

The inter-Korean summit meeting without qualitative results was dismissed as a show.
