We know the great literary works of Victor Hugo, undoubtedly the most famous French writer of the 19th century. But his sentimental and family life is just as worthy of interest. Indeed, the poet formed, with his wife Adèle Foucher and his mistress Juliette Drouet, an original threesome for the time. A trio that will even become a quartet... In this new episode of the podcast "At the heart of History", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach takes an interest in the (many) women who marked the life of Victor Hugo.

Born in 1802, Victor Hugo grew up surrounded by parents who constantly quarreled about the infidelities of one or the other.

As an adult, the young writer nevertheless reproduces the same family pattern, shared between his wife Adèle, whom he has known since childhood, and his many lovers.

His life resembles a love trio, then a quartet… and much more.

In this new episode of the podcast “At the heart of History”, Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach describes the astonishing blended family of Victor Hugo.
