China News Service, Kuala Lumpur, January 24 (Reporter Chen Yue) The Kuala Lumpur High Court of Malaysia ruled on the 24th that the country's United Malays National Organization (UMNO) Chairman Zahid was convicted of 47 charges in the Healthy Thinking Fund case ( That is, it is determined that the prosecution has provided prima facie evidence on the allegation), and the case will then enter the defense self-defense stage.

Zahid, who served as Malaysia's deputy prime minister from 2015 to 2018, was charged in the case with breach of trust, bribery and money laundering.

Zahid said after the verdict that day that he would accept the court's decision (which requires the defense to defend itself) and will appear in court at the next stage.

In addition to the Healthy Thinking Fund case, Zahid is also facing about 40 bribery charges in other cases, which are still pending.

A coalition of political parties with Umno at its core has been in power in Malaysia for a long time.

Although it once lost power in the 2018 general election, UMNO is back in the ruling coalition less than two years later.

After losing the election in 2018, a number of Umno leaders, including Najib and Zahid, two former party chairmen, were charged in the case.

Previously, the SRC International case, one of the cases in which Najib was involved, has been convicted by the court, and Najib is appealing to the Federal Court.

Local media in Malaysia believe that the Zahid case will also usher in a long legal battle.
