Bloomberg reported that a poll released by the polling agency Ifop on the 23rd showed that Macron’s approval rating dropped from 41% a month ago to 37% in January 2022.

As many as 60% of respondents did not support Macron.

The poll showed that only 7% of respondents said they were very satisfied with Macron, while 30% said they were very dissatisfied.

Macron's approval ratings were unchanged from last spring's levels.

Ifop interviewed 1,952 people online and by phone from January 14 to January 20 this year.

The margin of error is plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

According to reports, Macron's approval rating is still higher than the ratings of former presidents Hollande and Sarkozy during the same period in office.

Macron, who has yet to officially announce his re-election bid, is seen leading his opponent in a survey of voting intentions in the first round of the presidential election.

Recent polls show Macron with around 25 percent support ahead of the first round of French presidential elections on April 10, while his right-wing opponent is split between two or three candidates.

The top two candidates in the first round of voting will go to the second round on April 24.
