"Exfiltrated" footballers, stones thrown at the winners, blows exchanged... In Vaulx-en-Velin, near Lyon, violent incidents broke out on Saturday evening, after a meeting between the local team and that of Craponne, on behalf of the Coupe du Rhône.
Several injuries are to be deplored, reveals
Le Progrès
.
The match, won by the visitors, degenerated at the final whistle for reasons that remain unclear.
The winners deplore having fallen into an “ambush” when returning to the locker room, explaining that they were “backed against a wall” to be punched and beaten with a chair.
They had to be dragged out of the fight to get back out.
For its part, the presidency of the Vaud club indicates that "the wrongs are shared" and points to several injured in its ranks.
Calm returned when the police arrived.
A meeting is scheduled for Monday to determine the sanctions that could be applied.
