The idea is not simply to make a classic connection between these two cities but rather to introduce wine while trying to revive tourism in the city of Queenstown, which has suffered the brunt of the consequences of the global pandemic.

The first flight is scheduled for the next few months in a 34-seater aircraft.

Thousands of people registered for the first flight

In addition to the two-hour flight, participants will benefit from a real experience throughout the day.

On the program: a visit to the wine producers of Invivo Central Otago as well as a stay at the Hilton in Queensland.

"Obviously there will be complimentary wines on board, as well as soft drinks," said company founders Tim Lightbourne and Robin Cameron.

While thousands of people have already registered for this first flight, Invivo has decided to offer half of the seats to hotel and tourism staff in Auckland, another city hard hit by the lockdown decreed. by the New Zealand government.

People who have not been able to travel to the south of the country to visit their relatives will also be among the priority passengers.

In the long term, Invivo hopes to operate regular flights between these two cities and even add new destinations.
