A fire in one of the most important hospitals in the Middle East in Lebanon

At dawn today, Monday, a fire broke out in the building of the American University Hospital "AUMC" in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, but firefighters quickly worked to put it out.

The firefighting personnel succeeded in putting out the fire, after the building was secured and the fire was confined to its place and prevented from spreading.

The damage was limited to material, according to private sources from the Beirut municipality, to the "Sky News Arabia" website.

In contact with the administration of the American University of Beirut Hospital, the director of the hospital, Joseph Ateeq, told Sky News Arabia that the fire broke out on the fifth floor, i.e. the heart catheterization center, specifically in one of the computer rooms, a technical work room that includes a number of Computers, noting that no injuries were recorded as a result of the accident.

Ateeq attributed the cause of the fire to an electrical friction that led to the burning of the devices in the aforementioned room.

The director of the hospital indicated that "the patients were not affected and all remained in their rooms, and that the work team and everyone was fine and work continued as soon as the fire was brought under control."

The American University of Beirut Hospital is one of the most important and oldest hospitals in the Middle East.
