The number of coronavirus infections in Egypt continued to rise significantly during the last period, while the Egyptian authorities announced updating the conditions and controls for entry into the country, in an attempt to control the spread of the disease.

And the Egyptian Ministry of Health recorded 1,569 new infections with the Corona virus and 41 deaths yesterday, Saturday, compared to 1,533 infections and 29 deaths the day before yesterday, Friday.

The officially announced numbers began to accelerate during the second half of this January, as they began to cross the barrier of 1,000 infections per day, starting from January 14, knowing that Egypt has always aroused controversy since the outbreak of the virus due to doubts about the official numbers and the belief that they are less than Indeed.

The official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, said - in a statement - that the total number that was registered in Egypt with the new Corona virus until Saturday, is 408,495 infections, including 342,762 cases that were cured, and 22,330 deaths.

Omicron reason

Muhammad Awad Taj El-Din, advisor to the President of the Republic for health affairs, attributed the large increases in the number of coronavirus infections to the presence of the rapidly spreading "Omicron" mutant.

And Taj Al-Din explained - in a telephone interview with the media, Lamis Al-Hadidi, who is returning from infection with the Corona virus - via the “ON” channel, that the “Omicron” mutant is rapidly spreading and the infected individual can transmit the infection to 14 individuals, but he indicated that the symptoms of “Omicron” infection. Much smaller than the previous mutant and flu-like.

The President’s advisor confirmed that there are clear and explicit instructions to focus on following all precautionary and preventive measures and reducing densities in all public places, schools and universities, and not allowing citizens to interact with government interests until after obtaining the Corona vaccine and wearing a mask while being inside the government interest.

It is worth noting that Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has been doing the work of Health Minister Hala Zayed since late October, after the minister disappeared in mysterious circumstances. Before the media, close to power, Amr Adib, went out, stressing that she would not return to her position again.

Update the conditions for entering Egypt

For its part, the quarantine authorities at Cairo International Airport began yesterday, Saturday, to implement the update of the conditions and controls for entry into Egyptian territory, in light of the developments in the epidemiological situation of the Corona virus globally.

The new controls were as follows:

Those coming to the country, whether Egyptians or non-Egyptians, have access to any of the anti-Coronavirus vaccines approved by the World Health Organization or from the Egyptian Medicines Authority.

It is required that 14 days have passed since vaccination with the second dose for two-dose vaccines, or at least 14 days have passed since vaccination with the vaccines scheduled for a single dose, before reaching the Egyptian territory.

In the absence of a certificate stating receiving the vaccine, it is required that the person coming to the country possess a certificate stating that he is negative for the Corona virus, with any of the examinations approved by the Ministry of Health and Population within 72 hours before arriving at the Egyptian entry points, provided that children under 12 years of age are excluded.

For those arriving through tourist airports (Sharm El-Sheikh, Taba, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Luxor, and Aswan), the arrival is required to have a certificate of vaccination against the Corona virus in accordance with the conditions set in this regard, and in the absence of a certificate stating that the vaccine has been received, it must be Possessing a certificate stating that the test is negative for the Corona virus in any of the tests approved by the Ministry of Health and Population, according to the conditions established in this regard.

– In the event that the vaccination certificate or the examination certificate held by the passenger does not comply with the established controls, a test is conducted to detect the Corona virus, explaining that in the case of a positive examination, the arrivals are allowed to self-isolate for 5 days in the residence hotel, with a “BCR” examination ( PCR) on the sixth day, and in the event that there are no symptoms of the disease, and the result of the “PCR” is negative, they are allowed to end the isolation, but if the result is positive, the isolation continues for another 5 days, then the isolation is ended without the need for an examination else.

International Schools Warning

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Minister of Education, Tariq Shawky, said that the study is regular for 25 million students in all Egyptian schools without the impact of the Corona virus on the educational process this year, he said.

The minister acknowledged what the communication sites said that some schools sent to parents requesting that students not attend school, due to the Corona virus, noting that there are few schools that teach international curricula, and they will be warned against repeating this, and considering that this should not provoke public opinion.

Injury to the Minister of Electricity

On the other hand, the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, announced that he had contracted the Corona virus, pointing out that his condition is stable and that the symptoms are very mild.

The minister explained - in press statements - that he is subject to domestic isolation and that he needs a few days of rest.
