U.S. President Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida held a video summit on the 21st and agreed to establish a new '2+2 meeting' with the participation of foreign and economic ministers.

Currently, the U.S. and Japan are operating a 2+2 meeting in which foreign ministers and defense ministers participate, and they decided to establish an additional 2+2 meeting to deal with economic and security issues.

It is known that the US Secretary of State and Commerce Minister will participate in the new 2+2 meeting, and Japan's Foreign Minister and Economy and Industry Minister will participate.

The purpose is to deepen U.S.-Japan economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific with China in mind, which is expanding its influence through aid to developing countries, Japan's Kyodo News Agency explained.

The leaders of the United States and Japan said the two countries had reached an agreement to cooperate closely on North Korea's nuclear and missile issues.

The US-Japan video summit lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.
