“Japan and the United States are committed to strengthening the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, including through the universalization of comprehensive safeguards agreements and additional IAEA protocols.

We strongly support the authority of the IAEA, the objectivity, professionalism and independence of this organization, ”the text of the joint statement on the State Department website says.

The parties also agreed that the export of nuclear technology must meet high non-proliferation standards both on the part of the sender and the recipient.
