The rescue service was alerted to an accident in the northbound lane between Finnerödja and Laxå at lunchtime on Thursday.

When they were ready at the site and left, there was still a traffic stop, which they reported to the Swedish Transport Administration.

Several trucks came to a standstill in the southbound lane and blocked traffic.

- Then we started getting several 112 calls that there was still a stop at 17.30-18, says Anders Lasses, duty officer at the Bergslagen Rescue Region.

Truck drivers sat in a queue for hours

Annika Wallin is a truck driver and sat in line from 11 a.m. to about 6 p.m.

- Now I'm sitting at a gas station in Laxå.

I could turn the truck around, so now I'll have a coffee and a much needed sausage.

There is still a queue, but I came across a hill and was able to turn around.

What was it like sitting there?

-

It was very sad, I must say.

But it worked, I listened to the radio to pass the time.

I have not seen a single salt truck on the road.

Not when I was sitting there and not in Örebro either, despite this snow chaos.

Had they been out with a salt truck, everything would have disappeared today, she says.

The truck driver Marcus Bergqvist also sat in the car queue for a little more than eight hours on Thursday.

According to him, the winter road maintenance has not been good enough and the salt trucks could not arrive.

- I drive a lot here and it is never so bad.

They are usually quite quick to get rid of the crew so I do not really know what they were doing today.

Some private individuals came and offered sandwiches and coffee.

It was very nice.

But maybe the Swedish Transport Administration could have done that.

The Swedish Transport Administration's press service stated in the afternoon that salt trucks sent from Örebro had difficulty passing the queues that had arisen.

Something that the rescue service also experienced during the emergency calls earlier in the day.

They further stated that the road conditions at the site became extra difficult because the lack of salting due to the stop aggravated the slipperiness.
