Xinhua News Agency, Accra, January 20 (Reporter Xu Zheng) An explosion occurred in a mining area in the western province of Ghana on the 20th, killing at least 20 people and injuring many others.

  Ghana's National Disaster Management Department official Saji said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that the accident occurred in a mining area in Western Province. A truck carrying mining explosives collided with a motorcycle that suddenly broke into the driveway, resulting in sparks. The explosives were detonated, causing casualties and the destruction of about 500 houses.

  At present, the aftermath of the accident is underway, and some people have been evacuated to a nearby church.

  Ghana's President Akufo-Addo issued a statement on the same day expressing condolences to the victims of the accident and asking the national disaster management department to provide help to the families of the victims as soon as possible.
