The man was arrested in central Gävle the night the goat burned down.

He is charged with grievous bodily harm and has previously denied.

Acknowledged that he turned on

When the trial began in Gävle District Court on Thursday, the 40-year-old's defender said that the man admits the crime and that he accepts the damages of SEK 109,000.

But when the 40-year-old was then heard in court, he withdrew the confession.

- He then said that he did not remember anything of the incident.

That he was drunk during the night.

He admits that it looks like he does in the film, but since he has no memory of the incident, he withdraws the recognition, says SVT's reporter Arvid Jansson who is present in the district court.

Do not remember the buck burning

His defenders now say that the 40-year-old neither admits nor denies the crime.

He also no longer accepts damages.

- The minimum sentence for aggravated vandalism is six months' imprisonment and according to the prosecutor, imprisonment is the only thing imaginable.

But the defender believes that the 40-year-old should be released, even if he is sentenced, so that he can continue treatment for his substance abuse problems, says SVT's reporter Arvid Jansson from the district court.

Around 11 o'clock, a message comes from Gävle District Court that the verdict will come in a week.

The 40-year-old suspect is being held in custody until then.
