According to Blokhin, such rhetoric will only intensify until the moment the sanctions package against Russia is introduced.
“The task is to use a new package of sanctions, and this rhetoric is just a rationale, preparation of an informational background so that these sanctions look legitimate,” the expert explained.
According to him, such "plans" of Russia, which are announced in the United States, actually demonstrate the system of coordinates in which American politicians think.
The specialist suggested that the new sanctions may affect, in particular, Nord Stream 2, because in the United States this project is seen as a weakening of the geo-economic positions of the States in Europe.
Earlier, the White House promised Russia a "tough response" in the event of an escalation in Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden said that in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine, Russian banks will not be able to conduct transactions with the US dollar.
