Earlier, the Russian government submitted amendments to the State Duma on the indexation of pensions by 8.6% in 2022.

The first vice speaker of the lower house of parliament, Alexander Zhukov, said that the State Duma at a meeting on Thursday, January 20, will consider in the second and, possibly, in the third reading, an amendment to index the pensions of non-working pensioners by 8.6%.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with members of the government, proposed indexing pensions in Russia above the inflation rate.

The Ministry of Finance of Russia reported that additional costs for the indexation of citizens' pensions in 2022 will amount to 172.7 billion rubles.
