According to the social services' figures from 2020, there were 1,700 cases of children who witnessed violence in a close relationship in the county, which corresponds to approximately 140 cases a month.
- So far, the numbers are quite low, says Agneta Ström at the police's children's group in Gävleborg.
Across the country, more than 4,000 child peace crimes were reported during the first half of the year with the law, which came into force on 1 July 2021.
The police believe that the reports will increase over time, when the child peace crime becomes more established in society.
To meet this development, the police's children's group in Gävleborg is already employing more people.
