This is a new step in what looks like a veritable diplomatic marathon for Russia.

After summits with the United States, with NATO, with the OSCE, after a meeting on Tuesday between the Russian and German

foreign ministers

, this Wednesday Vladimir Putin met his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raïsi in Moscow.

The opportunity for the two countries subject to heavy Western economic sanctions to show their solidarity.

The sanctions, stressed Vladimir Putin, “

have not prevented Iran from developing

 ”.

It is difficult not to see a message addressed to the

United States and the European Union

, while the latter are precisely considering a new set of sanctions against his country.

The meeting was also an opportunity for Moscow to call on Iran to "

clarify its position

 "

on the Iran nuclear deal

.

It is also a point of convergence, one of the few, between Russia and the countries of Europe.

And an opportunity for Russia to leave the dock and show itself as a full member of the international community.
