This was stated at a briefing by the chairman of the Moldovan parliament, Igor Grosu.
He noted that a decision was made to convene two extraordinary parliamentary sessions on January 20 and 21.
“Tomorrow we are waiting for the government in parliament to discuss the initiative to introduce a state of emergency due to the situation with gas,” RIA Novosti quotes him.
Earlier, the Moldovan government decided to ask the parliament to declare a state of emergency due to the situation in the energy sector for 60 days.
Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilitsa said that in the event of a state of emergency, the government would support Moldovagaz and pay an advance payment to Gazprom.
Gazprom previously issued a warning about a possible cessation of gas supplies to Moldova if it does not receive the next payment by January 20.
