The Nord stream 2 gas pipeline has been completed since September 2021, but no gas has yet been delivered.

The pipeline runs through the Baltic Sea off the coast of Sweden, in what is considered a Swedish economic zone.

Therefore, Sweden, just like Denmark, Finland and Germany, has had to approve the construction.

The project is primarily backed by the Russian state-controlled energy company Gazprom, but several European companies have made investments, and the project has been criticized.
