Humbert, 23, beaten in the first round on Tuesday by his compatriot Gasquet, wrote on his Instagram account on Wednesday: "I tested positive after my elimination yesterday and I will remain in solitary confinement for a week in Australia. Thank you for your support and see you soon".

All players entered in Melbourne must be vaccinated or have a medical exemption.

This subject was at the heart of the saga triggered by the world number 1, Novak Djokovic, who left the country on Sunday, his visa having been canceled by the government.

Infection rates have been on the rise in Australia since December, prompting the prime minister to hit hard on Djokovic, who was unvaccinated and supposedly tested positive on Dec. 16 in Serbia.

Zverev, Olympic champion in Tokyo this summer, easily disposed of Australian John Millman in the second round on Wednesday, then declared that he remained cautious and limited his appearances in public, to avoid catching the virus.

"I think there are more cases than last year, it's as simple as that", also affirmed the German, underlining that the players are "allowed to go out for dinner, to do what '(they want".

"So it's normal that more people are catching it."

According to Zverev, "a number of players" are already infected.

And he adds: "We are not tested, so I think if we were tested (more often), there would probably be more positive cases than now".
