These products do not have regulatory labels warning "against excess calories and added sugars", said the consumer protection organization in a press release on January 14.
"We provide extensive, science-based nutrition information through the labels of the products we sell around the world," Kellogg's defended in an "important notice" on its portal in Mexico.
"Kellogg's was the first company in Mexico to include nutrition guides on its products," adds Kellogg's.
Since October 2020, a new standard has required food companies to warn consumers against excess sugar, salt and fat in their products.
Drawings on packaging packages are also prohibited to protect children.
Results: In supermarkets, most food products - Mexican or imported - are offered for sale with prominent black and white stamps on their packaging.
These stamps warn against "excess sugar", "sodium (salt)" or "saturated fat".
Some products feature all three stamps.
The authorities are thus trying to tackle the problems of overweight, which affects "70% of Mexicans and almost a third of them suffer from obesity", according to the government.
Last October the authorities had already immobilized cans of instant soup for the same reasons.
