“Our special services established the facts of participation in the latest events of members of a number of radical extremist organizations that operated inside Kazakhstan,” TASS quoted him as saying.

He also noted that there was an attempt by Kazakh radicals from foreign extremist organizations to use these events to unleash new attacks.

“These attempts were stopped in a timely manner,” Karin emphasized.

At the same time, he added that the country's special services recorded that on the 20th of December, a group of foreign citizens arrived on the territory of the republic at the same time, who on January 7 and 8 tried to leave Kazakhstan along various routes.

Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during negotiations with the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that militants, including those from Afghanistan and the Middle East, took part in the unrest in the country.
