“The security situation around Ukraine, the course of the peace process were discussed in detail, and it was noted that further escalation of aggression could be prevented by restrictive measures, among other things, preventive sanctions,” the message on the website of the Ukrainian leader says.

It is specified that the parties noted the unity of approaches to the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine.

“The parties expressed their hope that soon the next summit will be organized in the Normandy format,” Zelensky’s press service added.

Earlier, French Ambassador to Russia Pierre Levy said that France and Germany are directing efforts to implement the Minsk agreements to resolve the conflict in Donbass.
