Fines imposed in Russia on Google and Meta amounted to 5% of their annual income

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the calculations of the court, these are 144 and 39 billion rubles, respectively.

In both rulings, the court concluded that it was necessary to fine the companies 1/20 of their total income.

In December, a world court in Moscow imposed a negotiable fine on Meta in the amount of 1.99 billion rubles for repeated failure to remove prohibited information.

Prior to this, the court also imposed a turnover fine on Google in the amount of more than 7.2 billion rubles for the systematic failure to remove prohibited information.
