Director Adolphe Al-Assal expressed his pride in showing his movie "A Full Memory" at the Luxembourg Pavilion at "Expo 2020", noting that Dubai is an ideal city to host this huge event and other major international events due to its enormous potential and capabilities.

The Egyptian-Luxembourgish filmmaker told "Emirates Today": "I feel very proud to hold Expo 2020 in the Middle East in general, and in particular in Dubai, because it is an ideal city to host such events, with its advanced infrastructure, and also the global sense that it enjoys." This is what enabled it to impress everyone who visited the exhibition, due to the distinguished organization and the huge space on which the event is held, which may be three times the size of Luxembourg City, the capital, and the activities and events included in the exhibition and the number of participating countries.”

He considered that the best wings in his opinion were;

The pavilions of Egypt and Luxembourg, the two countries of his nationality, in addition to the pavilion of the Emirates, the country in which he grew up and studied, these three countries represent the stages of his life, and many human, cultural and social ties link him to them.

And about how his film was chosen to be shown in the Luxembourg pavilion, he explained that each country in “Expo 2020 Dubai” seeks to present its culture to the world, and therefore the Luxembourg government decided to choose eight artists from different specialties, musicians, writers and contemporary artists to present their works from the 15th to the 30th of this month, He was chosen by the Ministry of Culture in Luxembourg to represent the cinematic side with his movie "A Full Memory", starring the Syrian artist Mazen Hajj Qassem, expressing his happiness to present the film to an audience of different nationalities, especially as it tells an Arab story from the point of view of an Arab figure who has lived in Europe since Years.

Al-Assal expressed his admiration for the strong presence of cultural and artistic events at Expo 2020 Dubai, as each of the participating countries is keen to display what expresses its culture in a different way, and it is not limited to its prominent landmarks or its public identity, but focuses on culture and its formation greatly. And there are many pavilions that commissioned artists to implement special works to be displayed at the event, and express the message they wish to present to the exhibition’s audience, and all this momentum reflects the exhibition’s slogan “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future.”

Regarding the importance of awards for him, Al-Assal, whose film “Sawah” won 34 international awards during his participation in more than 100 international film festivals, indicated that despite his great happiness with the awards he receives, he does not see them as a criterion for excellence, adding: “I certainly am I feel happy when I receive any award, because it means that my work deserves to be honored and praised, but I do not see it as a criterion for excellence, for every experience I take I learn from it and develop myself and my abilities, and this is what shapes us as human beings. I also have many stories that I want to reach people, and I see Filmmaking is my way of telling these stories, and I feel happy if my stories can influence the audience, give them some joy and happiness, or change something inside of them.

That for me is the most important, the awards are great, but it's not my main goal.”

Adolf Assal:
