Al Wasl Square, the beating heart of Expo 2020 Dubai, witnessed the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals Week, the annual event that is being held for the first time in its history outside the headquarters of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, with a stunning visual display on the Al Wasl Dome, the largest display screen With a 180-degree scale globally, and an inspiring speech by Special Guest, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed.

The Sustainable Development Goals Week, the latest in a series of theme weeks organized by Expo 2020 throughout its convening, mobilizes momentum to advance joint progress towards achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to create a better and more equal future for all by 2020. 2030. This week's activities will be held in partnership with the United Nations, and extend until next Saturday.

The displays that were specially designed for this event lit Al Wasl Dome, followed by a procession of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals flags, carried by the supporters of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in addition to a speech delivered by the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed.

In her speech, Amina Mohammed said: "The 10 million visits received by Expo 2020 represent a clear sign that people, governments, companies and institutions from all over the world are excited for change, eager for hope, and ready to unite together."

She added: “It is up to each of us, individually or collectively, to transform this commitment into partnerships and investments that will tangibly improve the lives of people everywhere, and with the global goals woven into the fabric of (Expo 2020), we cannot think of a more suitable place for us. From the exhibition, to renew our shared commitment, in order to keep the promises we made in 2015.”
