On January 12, local time, another attack occurred in the city. A 75-year-old Asian man was deliberately pushed from behind while walking on the street. The suspect has not been arrested.

  At about 1:30 p.m. on the 12th, retired nurse Choi Young-hee was walking on the streets of Forest Hills in New York City when an attacker suddenly pushed her from behind without a word, and then fled the scene, local police said.

  Choi Young-hee fell to the ground on her face and was bleeding profusely. She was then taken to a hospital for treatment of face and neck injuries. Her left eye is still swollen and cannot be opened.

  In an interview with the New York media, Choi Young-hee said she did not know why someone attacked her.

Having lost consciousness after being pushed down, she can no longer remember the exact circumstances of the attack.

  Choi also said she could not determine whether the attack was racially motivated and that police have so far not classified the case as a bias crime.

  In 2021, hate crimes in New York will increase significantly. More than 500 hate crimes occurred throughout the year, a significant increase. According to ethnicity, hate crimes against Asians have increased the most.
