According to Balbek, such a statement can be regarded as an attempt by NATO to demonstrate to Russia that the position of the alliance "is indestructible and will not change."

“A spiral of defiant disregard for Russian security requirements has begun.

Now we will be “pressed” as much as possible on the information fronts, and the Secretary General of the alliance, I think, will make a couple more statements on how NATO will move closer to Ukraine,” the expert added.

According to the expert, this is a "game of nerves", but in recent years, as the political scientist emphasized, Russia's nerves have hardened, and "the alliance will not be able to play on them like on strings."

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in an interview with La Repubblica, said that the organization had decided to admit Ukraine and Georgia, but did not set a deadline.

According to TASS, according to the secretary general of the alliance, Ukraine now has a much higher defensive capacity than it was in 2014.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a press conference on January 14 said that the possible appearance of strike weapons in Ukraine and military bases of Western countries on the Sea of Azov would be another red line for Russia.
