In the autumn of 2020, the government invested SEK 2.2 billion in elderly care and even more in 2021. This, among other things, was to be able to train more care workers as assistant nurses.

Strängnäs is one of the municipalities that received the grant, which made it possible that the former temporary substitute Lidia Maka now has a permanent job at the nursing home Riagården in Strängnäs.

The training is aimed at those who already work in elderly care and is carried out during paid working hours.

Meet the new assistant nurses Lidia Maka and Kerstin Olsson in the clip above and hear what the training has meant to them.
