A new day of demonstrations against the military regime ended in new violent clashes, this Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Sudan.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Khartoum to demand the departure of the military and the return of a civilian government.

There were reportedly several deaths, including a police general.

This Thursday in the Sudanese capital, demonstrators tried to move towards the presidential palace, but an important security device had been deployed in Khartoum.

Clashes erupted in several neighborhoods.

According to an official police statement, a brigadier general died this afternoon in the center.

He was " 

stabbed to death by protesters

 ," said a spokesman for the police, without further details.

According to a source on the protesters' side, the man who was part of the security forces was attacked while walking behind a vehicle, near the bus station, in an area of ​​the city called Shawarni. 

This is the first time that the police, who regularly report dozens of wounded in their ranks, announce the death of one of their generals.

But on the side of the demonstrators, there would have been many injuries again this Thursday.

And at least one death confirmed by the Sudanese Doctors Association, which reports that security forces used excessive force, firing not only tear gas canisters, but also live ammunition at protesters.
