The Armed Forces has increased its preparedness on Gotland after Russia's military forces threatened Ukraine, and due to the increased tone between NATO and Russia.

Among other things, security patrols are located in several ports and at Visby Airport.

This is a measure that has been taken even though the risk of Sweden being attacked has been assessed as low.

- It is important to show both Gotlanders and other countries that we are an active defense that adapts to the situation, says Tomas Ängshammar, communications manager at Gotland's regiment P18, to SVT Nyheter Öst.

No heightened preparedness in Blekinge

According to the Swedish Armed Forces' press information, this is currently not about heightened preparedness on either the Ronneby air flotilla or the Marine Base in Karlskrona.

But press secretary Jonas Olsson believes that different adjustments are made to the situation in the outside world.

- Since we are both at sea and in the air in Blekinge, there is activity there, but it is not always visible.

We can not go into more than that, because then we give too much information about where we are and what we do, he says.
