Some health facilities in Dakar had already started administering

a third dose to volunteers

, but this was not official.

This time, the Advisory Committee for Vaccination therefore gave the green light.

This is a “

booster dose

”, specifies the ministry, authorized six months after the second dose, with

the same type of vaccine

already administered.

In other words, Sinopharm for those vaccinated with Sinopharm, AstraZeneca for those who have already received this vaccine, etc.

“

The program does not allow interchangeability of available antigens until further notice

.

"

For children, vaccination is now open from the age of 12, but only on one condition: either "

in the event of comorbidity certified by the attending physician

 ", or "

in the event of a justified major imperative

 ".

The program recommends for the youngest the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

A new stage in the response strategy, as more than 600 new cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours, half of them in the Dakar region.

Of the tests carried out, more than 27% came back positive, according to the ministry, but without a clear increase in the number of deaths.
