On Thursday, a kilowatt hour (kWh) in the whole country costs just under 20 öre, well below the levels that apply in recent months, especially in southern Sweden.

As recently as Monday, the price was 2:54 kroner per kWh.

It is also the lowest price since any single day in November.

The main reason is windy weather.

- It blows a lot in the Nordics, including Sweden, there are historically high levels, says Joakim Salqvist, electricity price expert at the electricity company Tibber.

If the forecast holds, wind power on Thursday is expected to break the previous Nordic production record for a single day.

The lower electricity price is expected to continue during the week when the wind is forecast to blow really hard.

Other factors that push the price are the mild weather and the fact that nuclear power is running at full capacity again.

- But the wind contributes the most, says Joakim Salqvist.
